Summary:
Medical Receptionist are the first point of contact for patients in multiple healthcare facilities.
Your role is to assist patients before they see their physician, provide practice information, and address patient concerns.
A key element in performing this role is to multi-task so you can accomplish all clerical tasks promptly.
Succes in this role will be demonstrated by ensuring patients are directed to their designated areas as quickly as possible.
Job
Responsibilities:
Utilizing Medical system to check in patients and receive all incoming calls.
Obtaining/understanding referral information, sending letters to doctors, and creating weekly spreadsheets.
Assist in generating billing, making payment arrangements; collecting accounts; monitoring and pursuing delinquent accounts as needed.
Maintains work operations by following policies and procedures; reporting compliance issues to the Practice Manager immediately.
Maintains quality results by following standards established by Practice Manager or Physicians.
Protects SWFA/DFW value by keeping patient information confidential Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
Serves and protects SWFA/DFW by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards.
Enhances billing department and practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments and giving this information to the Practice Manager.
Any other duties assigned by supervisor.
Skills and
Qualifications:
Ability to comply with all legal compliance Familiar with remittance advice reason codes Understands Local Coverage Determination's (LCD) both Medicare and Commercial specifically- podiatry Knows 10 key Medical Terminology- podiatry Communicates with the medical staff, and families as needed of important patient information.
Must have superior verbal communication, knowledge of infection control, ability to create a safe, effective environment, organization, scheduling, professionalism, customer focus, confidentiality, and Medical Teamwork Job Duties:
Arrives to work on time and ready to work.
Assist in implementing the day-to-day functions of office.
Follows all policies and procedures that govern the accounting functions of the SWFA/DFW centers.
Assure that patient information records are appropriately filed Documents all incoming physician referrals and creates a weekly spreadsheet.
Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the Practice Manager Perform secretarial functions as necessary or directed.
Assist in customer relations, marketing events and other duties as assigned, may be outside of normal office hours.
Perform functions of computer/data processor as necessary or directed.
Data entry on all patient information and referrals.
Responsible for front desk, patient check-in, paperwork, phones, and referrals.
Report all needs to the Practice Manager immediately.
Patient Rights Maintain CONFIDENTIALITY of all patient and practice information.
Assure that the patient's rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property, and civil rights including the right to wage complaints are well-established and maintained at all times.
Required Education/Certificates &
Experience:
Certificate or associate degree program in medical administrative assistance highly desired designations through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
Customer service, 2 years required.
Podiatry experience desired.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
